God has been so good to us in what could have otherwise been a season of serious hardship.
Our family was blessed with the opportunity to buy a larger home in a fantastic neighborhood that we could definitely not afford in the natural, but we believed would God arrange for a price that we could afford - and He did. To the number. He knows the desires of our hearts. He heard our prayers for a safe and comfortable place to continue to raise our family.
We bought the house while we were full-term pregnant, and moved when the baby was about a month old. A move is always stressful, but so much more when one adult is almost completely useless. But God surrounded us with plentiful support from our families to get the job done.
We knew we needed to sell our old home, but it needed a little work done first. We started on it, but it was going slowly, especially after Mom returned to work after maternity leave. Again, God provided the help we needed with getting the work done, paying for the materials, and caring for our children while we both had full-time jobs and a lot of work to be done in both of our homes. All of our family and friends were gracious and patient with us.
Paying two mortgages for almost a full year was definitely strenuous and we had to reevaluate our priorities, but our family never went without what we needed. Every single bump in the road was met with cushion. God is always faithful to provide!
When it finally came time to sell our old home, every detail fell supernaturally into place. We experienced unmerited favor at every turn. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. shutdown, we had 12 showings in the first 3 days, and 4 offers on our house.
We ended up selling the home on the 4th day, above asking price, and to a sweet couple who is eager to start their family there. When the buyers offered us more than the asking price, we got a little concerned that the house would even appraise for that high of an amount. But when the appraisal value came back, it matched the offer exactly. Without going into the numbers, let’s just say that we sold the home for well over DOUBLE what we bought it for - talk about “double for your trouble”! We truly have been blessed coming in, and blessed going out!
And He continues to bless us financially - just today, we were able to get a supernaturally great deal on a new car for our family! For background - one of our cars broke down literally on the way to close the deal on the old house. Satan thought he could steal our joy, but we decided to not let that minor inconvenience ruin our gratitude for God’s faithfulness throughout this whole process. And now 2 days later, He has provided a way to replace the old with something new and so much better than we had before!
We know that in the long run, houses and cars are small and temporary things. But God loves us so extravagantly that He is always looking for ways to spoil us with whatever will make our earthly lives a little easier.
