Day 5: Be Persistent in Prayer

Be Persistent in Prayer
Pastor Brian Friday

Praying in faith is an act of belief and trust. We believe what God’s word says and we pray in a way that affirms our full trust in Him. Pastor Lisa says it this way, “We pray from a place of victory, not defeat.”

Sometimes the natural man can creep into our prayer times. We are a Spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body. We pray, worship, and connect to God through our spirit. Therefore, prayer is not based on how we feel emotionally or by our physical senses.

So, as you pray, remember that the effectiveness of your prayer time is not based on your emotions or physical evidence. The heartfelt (spirit led), persistent prayer accomplishes much! I want to encourage you to be persistent in prayer. The older saints used to say, “pray until you pray through”. Brother Hagin, in prayer school, told us, “Pray until you sense a note of victory.”

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” — James 5:16 KJV

The phrase effectual fervent prayer comes from the Greek word, Energeo. Strong’s concordance says, “to be operative, be at work, put forth power.”

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” — James 5:16 AMP

As you continue through this time of prayer and fasting be encouraged, be persistent, because your prayers are having a dynamic and tremendous impact. God is moving on your behalf when you trust and pray. Things are shaking and moving in the realm of the spirit. So, stay in the fight and know God is working as we labor in prayer.
